Overview
The Tsum Valley Trek is a peaceful and less-crowded trekking route in the Manaslu region of Nepal. Often called the "Hidden Valley of Happiness," it offers a unique blend of natural beauty, traditional culture, and spiritual heritage. The trek takes you through remote mountain villages where local people still follow ancient Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Along the way, you will see colorful prayer flags, mani walls, chortens, and historic monasteries, including the famous Mu Gompa.
Surrounded by the beautiful Ganesh Himal mountains, the trail reaches an elevation of about 3,700 meters (12,140 feet). The journey offers stunning mountain views, peaceful landscapes, and opportunities to experience the local culture and way of life. Tsum Valley is ideal for trekkers who want a quieter and more authentic Himalayan experience away from the busy trekking routes of Nepal.

Dsy 2: Trek from Jagat to Lokpha
Activities:
- Start the day from Jagat after breakfast, following a gentle uphill trial with beautiful views of the Budhi Gandaki River and surrounding hills.
- Cross a suspension bridge and reach Salleri ( 1 hr), a nice spot for tea/coffee with early mountain and village views.
- Continue 102 hours (3 km) to Philim, a large Gurung village and an important gateway toward the hidden Tsum Valley (lunch stop).
- After lunch, trek to Chisapani (1 hr), offering great river views and a peaceful rest point.
- Final 2-hours trek to Lokpha (5 km) on a scenic, slightly challenging trail with some cliff-side sections (safe and wide), entering the Tsum Valley region.
Highlight:Â village life, river views, suspension bridges, and gradual uphill walking, making this one of the most culturally rich and scenic days of the trek.

Day 3: Trek from Lokpha to Chumling
Activities:
- Start from Lokpha after breakfast, entering a more remote and wild section as true trail to Tsum Valley begins.
- Steep uphill trek to Sardi Danda (5-6 km, 4hrs), one of the most challenging climbs of the trek
- Enjoy views of alpine forest, rivers, and remote landscapes along the way (no teahouses on this section).
- Descend steeply for 2 hours (3 km) to Chumling.
- Stay overnight in Chumling (2,385 m), a small village with views of Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal, plus monasteries and local culture.
Highlights:Â Expect a physically demanding but rewarding day with remote trails, fewer facilities, and a strong sense of entering a hidden Himalayan valley.

Day 4: Trek from Chumling to Chhekampar
Activities:
- Start from Chumling after breakfast, following a gradual uphill trail through lush forests, mani walls, and prayer flags.
- Reach Domje (3 km, 1.5 hrs), a small stop with basic teahouses good place for short rest.
- Cross the Syar River and continue on a steeper uphill trail with no villages until destination.
- Scenic but challenging section with stupas on cliffs and remote landscapes, giving true Himalayan wilderness feel.
- Arrive at Chhekampar (3,939 m), a traditional Tibetan village with views, monasteries, and rich culture (lunch & overnight).
Highlights:Â Expect a long uphill day with fewer facilities, but rewarding views and a deep cultural experience as you enter the upper Tsum Valley.

Day 5: Trek from Chhekampar to Chhule/Nile
Activities:
- Start from Chhekampar after breakfast, entering the upper Tsum Valley, with an easier and shorter trekking day.
- Gentle uphill walk (5 km, 2-2.5 hrs) to Lamagaon, a small village near Rachen Gompa (monastery visit optional).
- Continue 1 hour (2 km) to Nile, the last village before Mu Gompa.
- Along the way, pass through traditional Tibetan-style villages with prayer flags, mani walls, and stone houses.
- Overnight at Nile (3,360 m), with stunning views of Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal.
Highlights: Expect a short, scenic, and culturally rich day, with more open landscapes and deeper immersion into Tibetan Buddhist life.

Day 6: Trek from Chhule to Mu Gomba and back
Activities:
- Start from Nile after breakfast, trekking toward the final destination Mu Gompa along a gentle uphill trial (5 km, 2.5-3 hrs).
- Remote trail with no settlements, but rich in mani walls, stupas, prayer flags, and river view near the Tibetan border.
- Chance to spot wildlife like Himalayan tahr, blue sheep, yaks, and birds such as Danphe and eagles.
- Arrive at Mu Gompa (3,705 m), the largest monastery in Tsum Valley, and stay overnight inside the monastery or come to Chhule.
- Explore monastery life, join prayer rituals, and optionally hike to nearby Dhephu Doma Nunnery with panoramic views of Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal.
Highlights:Â Expect a peaceful and spiritual highlight day, with raw Himalayan landscapes and a unique experience of staying inside a working monastery.

- After lunch, trek another 2 hours back to Chhekampar through scenic villages and landscapes.
- Overnight at Chhekampar, enjoying a relaxed and easier day after reaching the trek's highest point.
Highlights:Â Expect a comfortable downhill walk with familiar views, making it a relaxing transition from the upper Tsum Valley.

Day 8: Trek from Cheekamper to Lokpha
Activities:

- After lunch, begin a challenging uphill climb (3 k, 1-1.5 hrs) to Sardi Danda.
- Enjoy panoramic views from Sardi Danda before descending through forest trails.
- Continue downhill (5-6 km, 2-2.5 hrs) to Lokpha for overnight stay.
Highlights:Â Expect a long but rewarding day with a mix of easy trials, a steep climb, and scenic descent back toward the lower region.

- Continue 3 hours (8-9 km) to Philim for lunch and a short village exploration.
- After lunch, follow the river trail with views of terraced farming fields and local village life.
- Trek another 2-3 hours (7-8 km) to Jagat for overnight stay.
Highlights:Â Expect a pleasant downhill day with forests, river scenery, and cultural village life, marking a smooth transition back toward the lower trekking region.

Day 10: Drive from Jagat to Kathmandu or Chitwan

- Start from Jagat after breakfast and board a private jeep heading back to Kathmandu or Chitwan.

- After about 3 hours, stop at Jyamire or roadside restaurant for lunch break.
- Continue the drive through winding roads, rivers, and terraced landscapes.
- Arrive Kathmandu or Chitwan after 7-8 hours, marking the end of the Tsum Valley trekking journey.
Highlights:Â Expect a comfortable downhill walk with familiar views, making it a relaxing transition from the upper Tsum Valley.
