Overview
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most scenic and accessible short treks, perfect for those seeking a taste of the Himalayas without committing to high-altitude expeditions. Spanning 9 days, this journey offers a stunning blend of mountain views, cultural immersion, and peaceful nature trails.
The highlight of the trek is the early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 meters), where trekkers are rewarded with an unforgettable panoramic sunrise over the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. As the golden light touches the mountains, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli, the moment becomes truly magical.
The trail winds through lush rhododendron forests, especially vibrant in spring, and passes through charming villages like Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, and Ghorepani. Along the way, you'll encounter the warm hospitality of the Gurung and Magar communities, giving you a deep sense of local culture, traditions, and daily rural life in Nepal.
Designed to be moderately easy, the trek is ideal for first-time trekkers, families, and those with limited time. It doesn’t require prior trekking experience, but it still offers the full Himalayan experience—majestic mountains, diverse landscapes, and a peaceful retreat from urban life.
You’ll also enjoy a stay in Pokhara, Nepal’s lake city and adventure capital, where you can unwind by the tranquil Phewa Lake or explore local cafes and attractions before and after the trek.
Whether you're drawn by the breathtaking scenery or the rich culture along the trail, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a perfect introduction to the beauty and soul of the Himalayas.
